Infectious diseases
In the majority of situations, health information will be known about the children who are placed with foster carers. However in some circumstances, particularly if children and young people are placed in an emergency or are unaccompanied and are seeking asylum, there may be little or no health information about them at all. In these situations foster carers may have children who have come into contact with or have an infectious disease and these can range from childhood illnesses (measles, chicken pox and mumps) to Hepatitis and Tuberculosis.
