Mentor profile
Your mentor profile is a snapshot of you, your family, your experience and your availability.
When you're matched with someone who has applied to be a foster carer, we'll share your profile with them to introduce you.
You should include:
- a recent picture of you (including your family if you wish but not anyone you foster)
- a brief description of you and your family:
- immediate family and circumstances including sons and daughters
- how old they were when you started fostering
- hobbies and interests
- work before you became a foster carer
- any current work outside of fostering
- why you became a foster carer.
- how long you've been fostering
- your current terms of approval and the ages of the children or young people who is currently living with you.
- an overview of your fostering experience:
- how many children or young people have you looked after
- any specific experiences, skills or knowledge you have (working with children with disabilities, Child Sexual Exploitation, County Lines, Self-harming behaviours, children with aggressive behaviour, looking after teenagers, moving children on for adoption, parent and child fostering, permanence).
- the best time to contact you and how you'd prefer to be contacted
- anything that is relevant to you personally.
