Training, Support and Development Standards

In your first year, or 18 months if you’re a connected carer, you will need to complete a Training, Support and Development Standards (TSDS) workbook.​ Only one workbook needs to be completed for each foster family.

The TSDS forms part of your induction into being a foster carer. It provides the minimum benchmark that sets out what you should know, understand and be able to do within the first 12 to 18 months after being approved.

If you need help completing your workbook, we run regular TSDS workshops. Speak to your fostering social worker if you'd like to attend.

You'll also need to complete your mandatory training.
